Faces Of A Clown

Faces of a Clown

Dear Reader,

FACES OF A CLOWN is the first story in a trilogy I originally wrote with friend and writer Virginia Myers. We had a lot of fun setting the first book primarily in Seattle, the second, CHOICES, in San Francisco and the third, YES IS FOREVER, in Vancouver. But what we enjoyed most were the continuing characters.

A few months ago I was asked to consider revisiting the stories of Mark and Laura, Evan and Sara, and Bruce and Donna. Virginia read the books and loved the idea. I read the books and agreed with her. So, after bringing the books up to date, I'm excited to share them with you.

In FACES OF A CLOWN Mark Hunt and Laura Fenton meet again several years after a bitter parting. Mark had blamed Laura for a terrible accident that took a life and forced her from her California home to Seattle, where she built a new life. Laura is an excellent clown who has her own sought-after troupe. The loss of the life she knew is sad, but she's learned how to be happy again.

But one sunny afternoon on the grounds of Seattle Center where Mark Hunt walks back into Laura's life, the peace is broken for both of them. This time Mark needs Laura. He needs her badly enough that he won't accept her refusal to help him.

Laura loved Mark, but he seemed out of reach for her—older, more sophisticated and not interested. The longing hasn't gone away. Mark saw Laura grow from a girl into a lovely woman. There were a few years between them and he never found a way to pursue her, much as he wanted to. Now they are two different people. The gloves are off and the playing field is level, the sexual attraction is too powerful to ignore, and they know what they feel is about more than physical reaction. But Mark's problems come with fearsome complications. Inept criminals bent on getting their hands on another man's fortune aren't too stupid to make bone-chilling attacks, and Mark's wildly jealous cousin is bent on mischief, with outlandish possibilities.

This is a dangerous game, but the stakes are too high to ignore.

You will soon be able to read CHOICES, and then YES IS FOREVER. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I have.

Take care,

Stella Cameron

PS. We've got to stop developers from taking down perfectly good buildings. Do you have any idea what a nuisance it is when a writer finds out a major landmark, like the Seattle Kindome (now imploded), was featured in a book she's rewriting? Or that hotels have changed names and other buildings added floors? And that's the small stuff compared with that color-blocked outfit that used to sound so cutting edge!
