Scene #78
Candy Apple Moon
As she sat on the plane waiting
for take off, she kept asking herself what was she doing? Had she
lost her mind? When she thought about the events that led up to
this decison, she wondered if she hadn't made a mistake. But it was
much to late now, she was committed into finishing what she had
started. She was so nervous she actually felt sick to
her stomach, what could she expect when the plane landed in Texas?
Her dad, brothers and even her husband, before his untimely death,
had done this. Did it mean she had to go and do the same?
She was looking out the window as the plane started to taxi for
take off. Her reflection stared back at her she could see her long
red hair, sky blue eyes, strong chin, high cheek bones and lips she
flet were to small. She really didn't look at all like her 34
years. She looked much younger, that's what every one kept telling
her. She was still looking at her reflection in the
window as the plane started to leave the ground. She was
remembering another airplane ride, and another time. She could see
it all so clearly as if it was yesterday. They were so happy
leaving for their first honeymoon after tweleve years and two kids,
her and her husband. They were on their way to Hawaii, for the best
time of their lives. She remembered how beautiful she thought
everything was and how happy and in love with her husband she was
after all those years. She remembered the walks on the
beach at sunset, the moonlit diners. It was all so perfect, she
could almost smell the exotic flowers, feel the pounding of the
waves on the beach. Oh Paul, how she missed him. His
happy, carefree thinking. His handsome face, his thick dark hair
flowing to his shoulder's when he would forget to have it cut.
"Excuse me ma'am." At the sound of the voice she was
brought out of her thoughts. Looking up she saw a very attrative
blonde in a flight attendant uniform. "Can I get you anythng?" "No
I'm fine thanks." The attendant nodded and walked away.
She suddenly had the feeling she was being watched. Casually,
looking around she spotted him, three rows back watching her over
his newspaper. Their eyes locked, He had very dark green eyes they
were almost lke a panthers. Very sharp and observant. She forced
herself to look away, and back out the window. Who is he
she wondered and why was he watching her? Was, he watching her? Now
that she thought about it she remembered having the feeling of
being watched at the airport, while she was eating breakfast, but
brushed it off as just being nervous about what she was doing, or
about to do. p She knew that because of who she is who and
waht her husband did for a living that she could be in danger. She
was trained not to trust anyone. How she decided to follow in her
husbands foot steps was be;yoond her. Everything happened so fast.
Her husband had been gone for just over a year, and most of that
she had spent in training. The training had been long and brutal.
She laid her head back on the headrest of her seat, and
before she knew it she was starting to doze off. She had dreams
some worse then others, this on was beyond bad. She must have
screamed, because when she awoke the hostess and several other
people were looking down at her from the asile. "Are you
alright?" one of the men asked. As she looked toward the voice, she
recognized the face that looked down on her or should she say she
recognized the eyes. It was the same man that had been watching
her. "Yes I'm fine, thanks for asking." "It was just a bad dream."
"It must have been pretty bad." He commented. "Bad
enough." "Again thanks for your concern." She turned her head
toward the window, to try to avoid talking to him anymore. She
didn't want to talk to anyone right now and least of all him. He
made her very nervous the way his eyes took in all of her. When she
looked back they were all back in their own seats. She had
never seen a mor handsome man in her life. His High cheek bones,
strong chin, dark long flowing shoulder length hair and of course
those green eyes that seen everything. Who is he? she kept asking
herself. What does he want from her? She knew she was going to have
to be very careful now that she was almost sure that this man was
watching her. She would keep and eye on him when they arrived in
Texas, to see if he followed her. Her training was what was going
to make it so she could keep track of him without his being aware
that she was.
