Scene #64
Damn, Damn, Damn! This is what I get for going out with an idiot
seethed Sam aka Samatha Chamberlain as she stumbled along the
roadside. The wind whipped around her dress and shaw enveloping
her like a cocoon and blinding her in the process. This time she
when she stumbled, she went down rolling into the ditch landing
flat on her stomach and face floundering like a beached whale.
Well, maybe not as big as a whale, she just felt like one. Sam
raised her head looking around trying to decide if it would do her
any good to cry. No, I guess not. She pulled herself up and
started walking again. She suddenly noticed that the wind had
stopped. Looking around, she realized it appeared too quiet. Now
what she thought. As she kept walking she begin to feel something
moving with her. She stopped and looked around, seeing nothing but
a dense forest and darkness. "May I be of service", a voice
came from behind her. She looked around but saw nothing. Ok maybe
not nothing, she did see what appeared to be a dog behind her. You
talking to me she replied. Great I'm carrying on a conversation
with a dog. Yes, she again replied, you can get me a cab! The dog
slowly approached and said in a low husky voice, "Sorry no cabs
around." Sam thought the last thing she remembered before passing
out, was the dog was smiling and had a twinkle in his eyes. Sam
moaned and slowly raised her head. "Are you okay? She turned and
looked into familiar eyes, no that was not possible. Sitting on
the edge of the bed was a tall, dark and handsome man. Did I just
say that, I hope not. What happened, she asked. I don't know he
replied, I found you collapsed along side the road. It was
starting to rain, so I brought you here. Where is here, Samatha
asked. Breezewood. Where is Breezewood she said. He raised an
eyebrow looking at me as though I must be kidding. Breezewood is
an estate in South Carolina that backs up to the ocean. It's very
unusual for anyone to ever get lost around here as most people
never venture out this way. Samatha bolted up looking around her.
She was dreaming. Yes that was it, she was dreaming. South
Carolina, that's impossible. She could not be in South Carolina,
she was just in Connecticut. You must be mistaken she said rudely.
I know I was just in Connecticut. You obviously are hurt worse
than I realized, he commented and then smiled at her. She drew
back remembering where she had seen those eyes and the smile.
