Scene #40
Mark answered his phone. It was his friend and next-door neighbor Steve, asking him to meet him immediately in his garage. He hung up and walked across the lawn to the two-door garage and opened the door. "What are you planning to do, Steve, are you crazy!" he boomed so loud the entire neighborhood could probably hear him.
"I'm going to burn my little sister's house down, right to the foundation. That will solve this problem once and for all," Steve yelled back, "I have a can of gasoline right here, and you are going to help me before she gets home from work." Mark grabbed the can of gasoline and poured it on the floor of the garage, then turned towards Steve. "That would only make Alicia hate the ground you walk on," Mark replied.
"All she does when she's not working is pace that house or sit on the bench outside by that tree, just waiting for some guy named Michael to appear again," Steve said forlornly, shaking his head. "She is going to die an agonizing death from that obsession, if I don't do something to stop this whole thing once and for all," Steve wailed.
"I know you are worried sick about her, Steve, and so am I," Mark replied, "but you have to convince Alicia of what she is doing to herself; getting rid of the house is like throwing away an alcoholic's bottle of booze." "It doesn't work," he explained.
Michael wanted so badly to appear to Alicia and talk with her about their plans for the future, but what Devin, his guide, had said to him about what would happen if he did, resonated in his mind. Devin had told him that this would be one of the biggest mistakes he could make at this time. Should Michael trust Devin? After all, Devin was a new guide. What made him think he knew everything! Michael decided to go with his first instinct and appear to Alicia near the old oak tree by the bench she was sitting on in her spacious back yard. What could one more time do that could be so irreparable, anyway.
