2007 Scarlet Boa

    Scene #40

Daria watches on helplessly as Alban is cornered in their hotel room by the angry group of men threatening his life with stakes. What could she do? If she tried to jump between them she knew she would be killed as well. She couldn't help but wonder if life was worth living without him anyway.

"Kill him, do it now!" A man shouts from the back of the crowd. Daria's whole body shivers with fear.

She closes her eyes and goes back in her mind to a better time. When Alban had just returned home from Africa. His once tan skin was much paler making her wonder if he had caught some strange disease so rampant in third-world countries.

She thought he was kidding when he told her what he'd become. How was she to believe that vampires even really existed? It wasn't until he displayed his newly found powers that she truly seen the light. At first she feared him until she saw Alban was still the man she loved, the man who would never hurt her.

"I love you Daria." Alban yells out to her, the fear in his voice so clear.

Daria still lost in her memories heard the words as the gentle murmur he whispered to her as they laid together beside the river. She could feel his lips rub against her neck and travel down to her breast, her heart pounding with anticipation. Her tongue explored his mouth, the sharp teeth that he was so careful with, the sweet taste of his lips. Everything urged her on, her body begging for more.

"Kill him!" Daria opened her eyes in time to see a large man lunge toward her lover. She could stand no more.

"No Daria!" Alban screams as she ran toward him.

She hadn't moved a foot when he transformed into the bat that had seemed so cliché the first time he'd showed her he could do it. The group of over-sized brutes ran to the window he'd escaped from. Then turned back to Daria, who stood helplessly wondering what to do.

"We have her trapped Alban. Come back and we will let her free." They shout. They did in fact have her trapped the door was blocked and there was no other exit, except one.

Without thinking it over she ran toward the window and jumped. Three stories up she was sure her life was about to end. Daria knew however this fate would be so much better than staying in the hands of the men who sneered at her. The ones who promised to put a stake through her heart after they finished with Alban.

She could feel the air run over her body. Her hair whipping around her face. Then something she hadn't expected. A gentle arm wrapped around her waist, slowing her fall. She looked back over her shoulder to find Alban lowering her slowly to the ground.

"When we hit the ground run. I love you Daria."
