2007 Scarlet Boa

    Scene #4

Jack pulled into the driveway of the stately home. A home he often visited in his imagination. He envisioned coming home to the quiet solitude this house offered. After a day of chasing the bad guys he imagined the beautiful woman who lived here, greeting him at the door with a cold drink and a hot body.

Just thinking about Shaina made him break out in hot chills and a cold sweat. "Get a grip on yourself" Jack thought, as he slid out of his sleek and sassy viper. Many people thought Jack was like his car, a combination of brute force, in a barely civilized wrapper. His runner’s body was both long and lean and his clothes hid muscles built through countless hours of weight lifting.

As Jack strolled to the front door with his casual grace, he enjoyed the sounds and smell of the night. The gentle breeze rustling the leaves, and the damp smell of freshly mowed lawn gave him a peaceful feeling. Since Jack usually worked nights he was more accustomed to the sights and sounds of the city, which always fueled his adrenaline, pumping up his system, putting him on constant alert.

As Jack started up the steps he heard a low growling sound coming from around the corner of the house. He noticed the front door was slightly open and all his senses went on full alert. He slowly withdrew his .38 and, as quietly as possible, started to make his way around the back side of the house. He thought he could make out the shadow of a large animal loping through the grassy yard and heading into the woods surrounding the house. Still moving quietly, but picking up his pace Jack followed the shadow into the woods.

There was enough moonlight for Jack to see glimpses of what he was following. It was a huge cat, sleek and black as the night, a panther. Jack thoughts raced furiously as he tried to remember if he had heard of an escape from any zoo in the area. He couldn’t remember hearing of any, but this animal certainly was not indigenous to this area. As the animal came to a small stream it stopped, lifted its head and seemingly looked right at Jack. Although he stopped moving and breathing, his mind registered that this beautiful, sleek, wild, animal had golden amber eyes the exact shade as Shania’s. He stood mesmerized, as the animal crouched down and drank.

The panther then stood and began walking back towards the house. But not on four feet, the panther was walking on two human legs. Jack stared blindly in confusion as his mind refused to believe what his eyes were telling him he was seeing. As she walked she slowly transformed into the beautiful woman Jack had only dreamt of. Shaina walked into the clearing of the side yard, standing in all her glory, naked as the day she was born, and without turning around said "hi Jack".
