Scene #3
Doug waved towards the house from under the hood of the car. "Just go inside Christian, get something to drink. Just be on the lookout for Fi." "Fi's here?" Christian said with surprise. "Yeah, I'm allowing her to stay with me until she finds her own place, and in return she gets to play housemaid for me." "Nothing like sibling love and generosity." Grinned Christian, heading towards the house. He tried to recall Doug's little sister, but only had a vague memory of a skinny kid with braids and crooked teeth. The music was blaring inside, and a feminine voice singing along. He turned the corner into the kitchen and froze, the image of 13 yr old Fi blown to pieces. There at the sink, doing dishes while bouncing to the music, was Fiona. Doug's little sister had grown up into a knockout. The braids were gone. Her dark hair fell just below her shoulders, the front part pulled back in a clip, wisps escaping around the front. No more the skinny kid she was at thirteen. She now filled out the snug t-shirt and shorts she wore. Christian suddenly wondered if Doug was the over-protective type of brother. Fiona suddenly spun around to the song and nearly screamed in surprise when she saw the man in the doorway. "Doug told me to come inside and get a drink." Christian explained quickly. Fiona relaxed a little, then realized that she'd been caught acting like and idiot. Immediately she blushed and turned away. "Fridge is over there." She said. Christian was intrigued by the woman he knew as a girl, who had grown into her big green eyes and had lost her freckles. "Thanks." He said, grabbing a beer out of the refrigerator, then leaned against the counter opposite her. "Though I have to say, I'm a bit put out that you don't remember me Fi." Fiona faced him again and stared at him with a little frown, trying to place his face. He was tall, a bit on the broad-shouldered side, dark hair, undeniably handsome. Then he grinned, his dark eyes sparkled impishly, and she knew instantly. "Christian!" she said, leaping forward to hug him impulsively. "Oh my God, it's good to see you." She said, taking a step back and grinning up at him. "You got taller." He grinned back. "You did too. And your teeth are straight." He said with a bit of surprise. "The miracle of braces." She said, walking over to the refrigerator. "So, besides still hanging out with my idiot brother, what are you up to these days?" "Not much." Said Christian. He watched appreciatively as she reached down to grab a Coke. "You certainly have grown up." he stated honestly. Fiona turned around, flipping her hair in an unconsciously feminine gesture. Was he actually flirting with her? She wondered and slowly smiled. "Well it was bound to happen one day." Opening her Coke, she looked Christian up and down, eyes sparkling. "So, did you ever grow up?" "Touché." He said with a grin, raising his bottle of beer in salute. |
